Stevie Nicks to play The Fillmore
Source: SFWeekly
Earlier this year, Menlo-Atherton High School graduate and former San Jose State University student Stevie Nicks released In Your Dreams, her first album in a decade — timed with the 30th anniversary of her solo debut, Bella Donna. Today, she announced a trio of shows back in the Bay Area, where her career kicked off, playing Saratoga’s Mountain Winery on October 5 and the Fillmore on October 8-9.
In Your Dreams finds Nicks in a new musical love affair with producer and songwriter Dave Stewart, best known as one-half of the Eurythmics, but her old paramours Lindsey Buckingham (also a MAHS grad) and Mick Fleetwood are also along for the ride, guesting on the album. Nicks still sets her own bar for top-quality performances of her past hits, so expect a balance of tried and true with fresh and new. And in the case of the lead single “Secret Love,” a mix of both in one tune; the song was written in 1976, but was left off Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours album.
With two venues to choose from, distance from home isn’t the only factor to consider. Stand-up performances at the Fillmore are $102.50, while reserved seats at the Mountain Winery are $75, leaving a theoretical budget left over for alcohol and, um, gasoline. Tickets for all shows go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday (Sept. 9). Opening support will be provided by America’s Got Talent winner Michael Grimm
