September 2012 Updates
The month of September is dedicated to Stevie Nicks’ first studio LP Buckingham Nicks. Released on September 5, 1973 (vinyl only) the ten track album produced by Keith Olsen was a commercial flop by industry standards. Only two tracks have been re-worked and included on other releases: “Crystal”, on 1975’s Fleetwood Mac and also on 1998’s Practical Magic soundtrack, “Don’t Let Me Down Again”, on 1980’s Fleetwood Mac Live. “Long Distance Winner” is only track ever to be released on CD from its original recording and appears on 1998’s Enchanted Box Set. “Stephanie” has been on Lindsey’s set list for most of his 2012 tour and was included on a promotional only CD “Words and Music (A Retrospective).” The studio where the Buckingham Nicks recording sessions took place was exactly where Mick Fleetwood heard the amazing guitar work of Lindsey Buckingham, performing “Frozen Love”. The rest is history, and on New Year’s Eve 1973 Stevie along with Lindsey were asked to join Fleetwood Mac.
