July 2011 Updates

The month of July is dedicated to Stevie’s first solo album Bella Donna. Released on July 27, 1981 it quickly shot up on the charts after inundating radio stations and the newly launched video network MTV. The album reached platinum status within 3 months of its release on October 7 and has continued with an amazing 5 million copies sold to date. Stevie’s first single Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around was in constant rotation and maxed out in the #3 position on the U.S. Billboard Top 100 Charts. Her 2nd single Leather and Lace landed in the #6 spot, while Edge of Seventeen reached #11 and After The Glitter Fades landed in the #32 spot. The Bella Donna Tour finally took shape in late November and with a mere ten dates produced the HBO Special: Stevie Nicks in Concert (recorded on the final night at the Wiltern Theater). After 30 years since its release Bella Donna remains one of Stevie’s crowned jewels…I’m still hopeful they will one day re-master this classic.
